“Ewe” Don’t Want To Miss This

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Arlington Research Station Sheep Unit and also Division of Extension has created a two-day workshop for sheep producers on April 4-5, 2024.

Topics Include

  • Basic health and parasite management
  • Biosecurity
  • Breeds and breed classification
  • General handling, facilities, and equipment
  • Genetic selection
  • Pasture management/grazing
  • Reproduction
  • Record keeping

UW-Madison Arlington Research Station Sheep Unit Manager and experienced shepherd Todd
Taylor and the UW-Madison Division of Extension Small Ruminant Outreach Specialist Carolyn
Ihde will be joined by guest presenters Rusty Burgett, the National Sheep Improvement
Program (NSIP) Director and also Dr. Scott Bowdridge, Professor of Food Animal Production at West
Virginia University.

Sessions will include demonstrations and opportunities for hands-on experiences for the ultimate learning experience, covering everything from biosecurity plans to keeping records and standard operating procedures.

Those interested in attending are asked to register beforehand so they can prepare enough materials and meals. The registration fee is $75.00 per adult and $15.00 per youth. (Youth 18 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult)
