Lauren Jones of Lafayette County is the 2023 Wisconsin State Fair Beef Supreme Exhibitor. The Supreme Exhibitor award is based on a junior exhibitor’s overall achievements at the 2023 Fair. This is determined by points earned participating in the Junior Beef show, Quiz contest, Communication contest and Showmanship.
Jones has exhibited at Wisconsin State Fair for eight years. During those years she has participated in both the open and junior beef shows. She had the honor of being in the Camp of Champions for two years throughout her junior career. Her involvement at Wisconsin State Fair also included performing with Wisconsin FFA chorus. According to Jones, she achieved one of her greatest accomplishments at State Fair when she was named Supreme Beef Showperson in 2018.
Jones is a junior at Oklahoma State University. She plans to graduate in 2024 with a degree in animal science with a livestock merchandising option. Her career interests include animal nutrition, embryology, and veterinary science. She plans to continue her involvement in the livestock industry and be heavily involved in her own operation.
Jones has never missed a single Wisconsin State Fair since she was born and is deeply rooted in her annual Wisconsin State Fair traditions. In fact, she will not leave the Fair without eating a long list of State Fair staples including (but not limited to) cream puffs, grilled cheese, a baked potato, a turtle sundae, gyros, frozen strawberry lemonade, a steak sandwich from the cattleman’s trailer, and, of course, corn on the cob.
