200+ Compete In FFA Soil & Land Evaluation Contest

Nearly 200 students from 27 Wisconsin high schools competed in the Wisconsin FFA State Soil and Land Evaluation Competition on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Blackhawk Technical College’s Monroe Campus in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Students were tested on their knowledge of soil composition, conservation practices and soil limitations. Teams were ranked in two divisions – junior and senior. Junior team winners were from Fennimore, with Cassville and Potosi coming in second and third. In the senior division, the top three teams were Monticello in first, Potosi in second, and River Ridge in third.
