Submissions for ALCIVIA’s Fair Participation Award were up 9.4% this year for a total of $103,700 donated to 708 youth exhibitors from 35 different counties in Wisconsin and bordering states. Of the 708 submissions, there were 50 small animal exhibitors and 658 large animal exhibitors.
New in 2023, ALCIVIA’s Fair Participation Program provided $100 participation awards to any youth that showed a small animal and $150 to youth who showed a large animal at a local fair and whose family is a member of the cooperative. This approach benefits every child that shows an animal and rewards them for their hard work and efforts.
Since starting the Fair Participation Program in 2018, ALCIVIA has supported more than 1,700 fair projects, totaling over $180,000 back to the youth. Submissions open in early summer and run through the middle of September each year.
“Supporting the next generation of agriculture is vital to the ag industry as a whole. ALCIVIA is proud to support the livestock projects for so many young people within the communities we serve,” shares Jim Dell, ALCIVIA CEO and President. “The shift to this participation award allows us the opportunity to support so many kids across dozens of county fairs.”
