Cows? Check. Grilled cheese? Check. Ice cream? Yes please! The GEA Farm Technologies ice cream stand is in its 19th year at World Dairy Expo in Madison. Sue Begg is the GEA Marketing and communications manager and she leads the planning for the ice cream stand. It takes her six months to prepare for Expo.
“We sell about 13,000 dishes of ice cream each year,” says Begg. “The money we raise from the stand goes to support Dane County ag education.”
GEA Technologies works with Cedar Crest Ice Cream to get the ice cream and spoons. She says they will go through about 15 thousand cups and 420 tubs of ice cream. In order to make that possible, she has a team of about 200 people that volunteer throughout the show, 135 of which being Wisconsin FFA members.
The GEA Technologies ice cream stand is open from 10am-4:30 each day. Each day they will feature 3 flavors of the day.
