Campaigning for political office at any level can be challenging, especially if you are a new candidate. Fortunately, there are a variety of trainings that candidates and perspective candidates can take to learn more about running for office. Wisconsin Farm Bureau is now offering their own campaign training.
On October 11th, Wisconsin Farm Bureau is launching their 1st Annual Campaign School at their headquarters in Madison. This training is designed for anyone interested in running for local and state office on campaign basics with an agricultural/rural focus. Jason Mugnaini, Executive Director of Governmental Relations for Wisconsin Farm Bureau, says this is modeled after training created by American Farm Bureau.
“It started with American Farm Bureau and they provide this as a resource to Farm Bureau’s across the country,” said Mugnaini. Other Farm Bureau’s have taken advantage of this and now Wisconsin is next in line.”
This training will be entirely different to trainings that would be provided by a political party. “This is a non-partisan political training tool,” Mugnaini shared. Training will include organizing a campaign, reaching rural voters, and overall campaign strategy. In addition to the rural focus , Mugnaini hopes the non-partisan nature will make this more informational for attendees.
Mugnaini believes this will turn into a premier training event for political candidates in Wisconsin. He see this as an opportunity to ensure the concerns of agriculture are heard in government.
Campaign School is open to anyone. Candidates, potential candidates, spouses of candidates, and campaign managers are all welcome. The cost is $100 for Farm Bureau members and $175 for non-members. Campaign School will take place on October 11th and 12th.
