A state-of-the-art facility for Insight FS is set to be built in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin. This facility will be a 25 thousand ton dry fertilizer shed. The facility will allow for greater volumes of fertilizer to be moved through the facility more efficiently.
Ben Huber, Insight FS General Manager says with cutting-edge technology and increased storage capacity, this facility will provide enhanced support to their customers. It will also streamline operations and better cater to the needs of farmers in Wisconsin.
“This was a fertilizer facility that was 30 years old and had not aged well,” says Huber. It was time to make a massive infrastructure improvement to add capacity, speed, and efficiency. This not only for us, but also for the rest of the agriculture channel that we work with.”
The new facility will have automation technology that will allow trucks to be turned out of the facility in just 12 minutes. This is compared to the 45 minutes it currently takes. The facility will help improve access points and alleviate some of the challenges with freight and logistics coming into central Wisconsin.
The new facility is a huge undertaking, and the company has been planning for it since 2014. The company is currently in the concrete phase of the project and is four weeks ahead of schedule. The facility is set to be operational by March of 2024. The long-term goal is to help smaller satellite facilities maximize their potential with this new hub.
