Five Wisconsin counties are eligible for disaster assistance. This is after the federal government designated primary natural disaster areas in Minnesota due to recent severe storms and flooding.
This declaration allows USDA Farm Service Agency to extend emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.
While the impacted area was in Minnesota, contiguous counties are also eligible. In Wisconsin, this includes Burnett, Douglas, La Crosse, Pierce and Vernon.
The application deadline is March 19, 2024.
