World Dairy Expo will host a Dairy Symposium featuring the Dairy Business Innovation (DBI) Initiatives on October 3, 2023. The event will run from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m. Registration is now open for this historic event.
The DBI Initiatives were established in the 2018 Farm Bill. The four regional DBI Initiatives provide direct technical assistance and sub-awards to dairy businesses to develop, produce, market, as well as distribute dairy products.
“World Dairy Expo brings the international dairy industry together to share ideas, celebrate success, and plan for the future,” shares Laura Herschleb, World Dairy Expo General Manager. “We are excited to host this Dairy Symposium to facilitate this conversation as the DBI Initiatives continue to move forward.”
The Dairy Symposium at World Dairy Expo will include a presentation by each of the DBI Initiatives about their regional efforts. Also, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski will provide the welcome address.
“The DBI Initiatives are working with dairy businesses in each region to diversify their products and promote business development. They are working to ensure the long-term success of the country’s dairy industry,” said Secretary Romanski. “I am pleased to be part of this Dairy Symposium to highlight how the DBI Initiatives are leveraging this investment for the future of the dairy industry.”
The Dairy Symposium will feature a panel that includes a representative from each of the DBI Initiatives. These panelists will share how the DBI Initiatives have positively influenced their own farm, business, research, as well as careers.
The Dairy Symposium will conclude with an opportunity to network with each of the DBI Initiatives. One of the DBI Initiatives is the Pacific Coast Coalition Dairy Business Innovation Initiative (California). Another one is the Southeast Dairy Business Innovation Initiative (Tennessee). Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (Vermont) is also one. Lastly, Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (Wisconsin) is the fourth initiative.
The Dairy Symposium is free to attend with paid admission to World Dairy Expo. For event registration, full schedule, and speaker profiles, visit https://datcp.wi.gov/pages/agdevelopment/dairysymposium.aspx.
