Sauk Prairie School District Superintendent Jeff Wright has been appointed to the Wisconsin Agricultural Education and Workforce Development Council.
Wright has served as superintendent of the Sauk Prairie School District since 2019. During his tenure, the District built the Jeff Hicken Horticultural Learning Center. The new greenhouse provides microgreens and other produce for the school district’s food service program.
“Superintendent Wright’s continued work to advance agricultural education and support the development of our future workforce within the Sauk Prairie School District has not gone unnoticed,” commented Sally Ladsten, Wisconsin Association of FFA Advisor. “We know he will bring similar ideas to the table to be considered by the WAEWDC.”
The Wisconsin Agricultural Education and Workforce Development Council (WAEWDC) provides guidance on supporting Wisconsin’s agricultural economy and workforce. The purpose and functions of the WAEWDC are to:
- Increase the hiring and retention of well-qualified employees in industries related to agriculture, food, and natural resources.
- Promote the coordination of educational systems to develop, train, and retrain employees for current and future careers related to agriculture, food, and natural resources.
- Develop support for employment in fields related to agriculture, food, and natural resources.
- Recommend policies and other changes to improve the efficiency of the development and of agricultural education across educational systems.
Prior to coming home to Wisconsin in 2012, Wright was a high school principal on the southside of Chicago. He and his family live on a farm in western Sauk County
“Sauk Prairie has partnered with the State of Wisconsin to advance Agricultural Science Education in our region and we are proud of our growing program,” Wright shared. “I look forward to learning new ideas from industry and government leaders from across the state and to share the impressive work of our students and agriculture education supporters.”
