When people think of the food at the Wisconsin State Fair, many think of the cream puff. It is a staple of the State Fair.
Colton Grebe and his family have been running the Cream Puff Pavilion at the Wisconsin State Fair for decades. This year is the 99th year that cream puffs have been served at the Fair.
The cream puff was created in 1905 by a member of the Wisconsin Bakers Association. Grebe said the motivation for the cream puff was to “highlight two very strong Wisconsin traditions – baking and agriculture”.
Around 400,000 cream puffs are sold every year at the Wisconsin State Fair. The best way to get a cream puff and enjoy the full experience is to visit the Cream Puff Pavilion. By visiting the pavilion, fairgoers can see cream puffs being made. They are open every day from 10am to 10pm.
Grebe anticipates a good year for cream puff sales, in large part due to decent weather. He said, “The weather is looking pretty good coming up. I think we’re going to be trending upward.”
