Jeff Morris, UW-Extension Swine Outreach Specialist, has organized a program that offers a series of swine and pork-focused educational seminars over the next twelve months. The first event, Swine Reproduction Workshop, will take place on Monday, August 14th, at Kelly and Molly Arand’s – Rake Genetics, 6840 Schumacher Rd. Waunakee, WI 53597.
This workshop will assist producers of all ages in maximizing the effectiveness of their production skills
to achieve their greatest reproductive efficiency. Attendees will get practical and real—life insight from
some of the industry’s most skilled professionals.
Topics to be covered include:
- Vaccinations
- Heat detection
- Semen collection / processing
- Artificial insemination
- Biosecurity
- Discussion of breeding herd
This seminar is a collaborative effort between UW-Extension and the Wisconsin Pork Association. Additionally, we would like to thank the Arand and Rake families for their help in organizing and
coordinating this program.
The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. and conclude around 5:00 p.m. with refreshments provided by the
Wisconsin Pork Association.
