The Wisconsin State Fair is just around the corner. Attendees can expect some exciting new attractions, as well as traditional favorites. The fairgrounds are set to welcome visitors from all over and there are plenty of ways to save on admission.
Jen Puente, Chief Marketing Officer for the Wisconsin State Fair Park, is excited to announce that the fair will feature 105 new food items this year. There is also a new attraction called Cirque at the Fair that is free with admission.
For those looking to save on admission, there are plenty of deals available. On opening day, attendees can get in for just $5 if they bring in non-perishable food items. Educators Day, thanks to Prairie Farms Dairy, offers great deals on Thursday August 10. There are also deals for kids with the Milwaukee Bucks on August 8.
A key change with the daily deals this year is that Veterans and Military Recognition Day has been moved to the first Sunday of the fair. Veterans can get in for free, plus three family members until 4 pm on Sunday, August 6th.
“We’ve also have a Crazy Grazing Day on August 8,” explains Puente. “If food is your jam, this is the day you want to come. There will be smaller portions for smaller prices. You can graze your way around the fair and try even more food.”
You can also save at the fair by purchasing a bargain book. This book is only $6 and has over 90 coupons to help you save on some of the traditional fair favorites. Some of the commercial vendors also have discounts as well. You can purchase a bargain book at any of the information centers or fairware locations on the fairgrounds.
The gates open daily at 10 am for all of the traditional fair items. However they do open a little earlier in the morning for the agriculture exhibitor shows and fairgoers can still come to watch those. To make the most of your visit, check out the daily schedule on the fair’s website and plan out your day.
Puente adds, “We also have some really great acts on our main stage this year. I want to remind people that when you buy your tickets in advance for one of those shows, it does include your admission to the fair on the day of the show. So be sure to come for the whole day and enjoy the fair.”
With the warm weather, fair organizers are making sure to provide plenty of air-conditioned spaces and shaded areas for attendees to enjoy. Visitors can also bring in sealed water or an empty water bottle to stay hydrated.
“We’ve made a lot of improvements to the facilities around here. We’ve created more seating areas, created new attractions and updated bathrooms,” says Puente. “We’re really trying to make everyone’s experience significantly much better.”
