The U.S. Department of Agriculture is designating 12 Wisconsin counties as primary natural disaster areas.
This natural disaster designation allows the Farm Service Agency to extend emergency credit to producers through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet recovery needs, such as replacing equipment or livestock, reorganizing a farming operation, or refinancing certain debts.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the counties (listed below) suffered from a drought intensity value during the growing season of 1) D2 Drought-Severe for eight or more consecutive weeks or 2) D3 Drought-Extreme or D4 Drought-Exceptional.
Primary counties eligible: Adams, Crawford, Dodge, Grant, Green, Juneau, Lafayette, Marquette, Monroe,
Richland, Rock and Vernon.
Contiguous counties also eligible: Columbia, Dane, Fond Du Lac, Green Lake, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, La
Crosse, Portage, Sauk, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waushara and Wood.
