Tractor Supply Company and the Tractor Supply Foundation announced that farmers can apply for one of 85 grants through a partnership with the American Farmland Trust (AFT).
According to the AFT, forty percent of farm land is owned by people 65 and older. Additionally, the number of beginning farmers keeps falling. In the next fifteen years, one-third of farm land will likely change hands as current owners age and sell. The land is most at risk of being converted to a non-agricultural use when its sold.
As part of its year-long 85th anniversary celebration, Tractor Supply has made an $850,000 donation to support the AFT Brighter Future Fund. The funding is Tractor Supply’s largest contribution to AFT to date. This builds on its previous partnerships and support for the organization. The donation will provide 85 grants of $10,000 each.
From now through July 15, farmers can go to https://farmland.org/brighter-future/ to apply for a grant to help improve farm viability, access farmland and adopt regenerative agricultural practices. Awards will be granted by late September.
Tractor Supply Company is committed to supporting agriculture and America’s farmers. This is one of its core focus pillars of corporate giving. Other pillars include supporting education, pets and companion animals, land and nature conservation, and community outreach.
