Jacob Harbaugh of the Clintonville FFA is the Wisconsin Star in Agribusiness Winner.
FFA members in Wisconsin have a chance to apply for a Stars Award across four categories. One of the categories is Star in Agribusiness.
Harbaugh’s involvement in the dairy industry allowed him to see the need for fitters and the opportunities that it would bring to him. Because of this, he decided to start his own business, Harbaugh Hair. With this business, he is able to provide custom services to meet his client’s needs for fitting and grooming.
“Throughout the year, I fit for cattle sales, fairs, shows and barn clippings,” he says. “Since beginning this business in 2020, I have been able to expand his business to now having 25 clients that I work with.”
Harbaugh’s skills in blending toplines and belly hairs allows him to highlight strong breed characteristics in each animal. His financial management of his business allows him to make informed decisions on whether ventures will be profitable.
Starting in September, he will be attending the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities to gain a degree in Animal Science while minoring in Agricultural Business. He says he hopes to continue to grow his business to help pay for his schooling.
Jacob’s parents are Lynn and Sara Harbaugh. His advisor is Dani Angotti.
