Every year the outgoing State FFA Officer Team selects someone from their team to serve as the State President for the new State Officer Team. Mary Schrieber from the East Troy FFA, who was serving as the Section 10 State Officer and one of the State Vice Presidents, was elected State President.
Schrieber shares that she did not have a production agriculture background and only became involved in FFA because her agriculture teacher/FFA advisor, Ryan Holle, “voluntold” her to join FFA. She then became active through her beekeeping Supervised Agricultural Experience maintaining her FFA chapter’s apiary.
Schrieber shares that her motivation for running stemmed from seeing FFA members flourish at their chapter banquets and realizing she wanted to continue being involved. She said, “I was so honored that I got to be a part of their FFA journey and play just even a small part in those moments. That’s when I realized that I wanted to play a bigger role in the achievements and the recognition of Wisconsin FFA members because these are some of the most deserving and hardworking students that Wisconsin has.”
Looking ahead at another year of service, Schrieber shares that she is looking forward to meeting more members and visiting areas of the state that she didn’t have the opportunity to visit since the FFA section she represented was in southeastern Wisconsin.
