In honor of June Dairy Month, Wisconsin-based cheesemaker Emmi Roth donated $5,000 to Second Harvest’s Adopt-A-Dairy Cow Program.
This program helps to address the shortage of food pantry milk donations. Since its start, the program and its partners, have helped to provide more than 200,000 gallons of milk to communities in southwest Wisconsin.
“As a company rooted deeply in agriculture, we know just how essential it is to have a nutritious dairy product like milk on the table,” said Angie Frie, a founding member of Emmi Roth’s Giving and Caring Committee. “We’re committed to making sure families visiting food pantries have access to nutrient-rich, wholesome milk. It’s a staple on tables across America and in the cheese we produce every day.”
Join the cause and help put milk on tables
The Adopt-A-Dairy Cow program runs through the end of June, and everyone can make a difference.
- Visit the Adopt-a-Dairy Cow website.
- Choose a cow to symbolically adopt
- Select how many half gallons of milk you’d like to provide
“A donation of $25 can provide up to 32 half gallons of milk to families in need,” said Frie.
Donators will receive a printable certificate of adoption for their chosen dairy cow. The first $65,000 in donations will be matched. Those looking to make a longer-term impact can also sign up for monthly contributions. This will help keep milk on food pantry shelves year-round.
