The average price received by farmers for corn during March 2023 in Wisconsin was $6.25 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was 9 cents below the February price and 9 cents below March 2022.
For comparison, as of May 1 at 10:15 a.m., cash corn is trading at $5.84 and a half from the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).
The March 2023 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $14.40 per bushel, was 40 cents below the February price and 80 cents below the March 2022 price.
As of May 1 at 10:15 a.m., cash soybeans are trading at $14.23 on the CBOT.
The March average oat price per bushel, at $4.54, was 4 cents below February and 85 cents below March 2022.
All hay prices in Wisconsin averaged $151.00 per ton in March. This was $5.00 below the February price and $1.00 below the March 2022 price. The March 2023 alfalfa hay price, at $162.00, was $7.00 below the previous month but $1.00 above March 2022. The average price received for other hay during March was $115.00 per ton. This was $6.00 above the February price but $5.00 below March last year.
The average price for milk was $20.50 per cwt, 10 cents above the February price but $4.80 below March 2022. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,840 per head as of April 1, 2023.
For comparison, as of May 1 at 10:15 a.m., the June Class III milk contract is trading at $17.19 per cwt on the CBOT.
