Compeer Financial, a Farm Credit cooperative based in the Upper Midwest, is currently accepting nominations for the organization’s third-annual Food & Agribusiness of the Year Award. The award recognizes and celebrates large-scale businesses in the food supply chain, outside the farm gates. From input providers, food processors, logistics and everything in between, this award honors those in the agribusiness supply chain who have shown great leadership in innovation, industry advocacy, community outreach and client service.
Nominations will be accepted through April 30, 2023 at compeer.com/food-ag-award.
Eligible businesses might include:
- Food and beverage processing and manufacturing
- Fiber manufacturers
- Bio-fuel processing and manufacturing
- Grain merchandising and processing
- Ag input processing and manufacturing
In addition to traditional ag lending, Compeer Financial also provides specialized financing, backed by an experienced team, for all types of large-scale food and agribusiness companies.
“At Compeer, we understand and celebrate the role food and agribusinesses play in our rural communities,” said Jason Johnson, managing director of food and agribusiness at Compeer Financial. “They provide a necessary link to help farmers thrive and ensure the entire value chain continues to move forward. These businesses enhance the vitality of rural America, bringing employment opportunities and support for rural development that builds resilient communities and we’re glad to celebrate them through our Food & Agribusiness of the Year Award.”
Nominations must be for agribusinesses with revenue of $5 million or greater and who do most of their business within Compeer’s 144-county territory in Illinois, Minnesota or Wisconsin.
Nominees will be evaluated on excellence in agricultural leadership and advocacy, innovation, community involvement, perseverance and commitment to the agriculture industry and their clients. Agribusinesses are encouraged to nominate themselves, however, nominations can also be submitted by others connected to the business.
In 2022, Compeer Financial presented the Food & Agribusiness of the Year Award to Badger State Ethanol in Monroe, Wis., an ethanol plant that has doubled in size in the last two decades to meet growing ethanol demand.
The 2023 winner will be notified in May 2023 and will be invited to Compeer Financial’s Food and Agribusiness Conference in July 2023, where the award recipient will be revealed and highlighted. The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and be featured in a video telling their story, a press release, social media posts and an article in Compeer’s Cultivate Magazine.
