The Aldo Leopold Foundation in Baraboo is excited to present a world-class lineup of speakers during this year’s Leopold Week, March 3-12.
Our keynote speakers, Delia Owens, author of Where the Crawdads Sing, and Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, will join the foundation live for conversations on March 8 and 9, respectively, as anchors for a week of presentations by conservation and literary all-stars, Scott Russel Sanders, James Edward Mills, Kim Blaeser, and Buddy Huffaker.
“We are very excited to share powerful stories from these inspiring conservation and literary leaders,” says Huffaker, Aldo Leopold Foundation executive director. “Their deep roots in land ethics attest to the ever-growing importance of the Leopold Foundation’s work growing an ethic of care for all people and all places.”

As fellows at the Leopold Foundation, these future conservation leaders connect to the shack and the same land the Leopold family cared for. Join the class of 2022 Leopold Fellows Sarah, Max, Leah and Maria to learn how they interact with the natural surroundings here to nurture their own land ethic.
Each year during the first week and weekend of March, organizations and individuals across the country come together to celebrate Aldo Leopold and a land ethic through community readings, film screenings, outdoor activities, and more. From the first planned event in Lodi in 2000 to the plethora of events held today, Leopold Week has been going strong for over 20 years, bringing people from every corner of the
U.S. and across the globe together in celebration of Aldo Leopold’s lasting legacy.
Last year’s Aldo Leopold Foundation Leopold Week program — Explore Your Sense of Place — attracted more than 5,000 registrants from all 50 states and over 11 countries.
