The Wisconsin Agri-Business Classic is coming up January 11-12 and will offer over 40 education presentations for those currently in the industry as well as opportunities for those in college to learn about the agriculture business industry. Tom Bressner is the executive director for the Wisconsin Agri-Business Association and says that the classic truly has something for everyone.
“The Wisconsin Agri-Business Classic got its name just because it really is a classic,” says Bressner. “It’s the place to be if you’re in the business world, and see all the exciting things that are out there.”
The Classic will take place at the Alliant Energy Center and will showcase award winners, scholarship recipients, industry professionals, and many breakout sessions. The sessions will cover all types of agriculture business so whether you’re in HR and want to talk about workforce development, an agronomist, or anywhere in between, there is something for everyone.
“This is the first time ever that the Classic will host animal and nutrition sessions that allow attendees to earn up to 5 hours of ARPAS credits for animal nutrition,” adds Bressner.
UW-Madison and the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) will be hosting a session on the SnapPlus program for agronomists. Attendees should bring their computer with and will have the opportunity to work through the program firsthand.
The Classic will offer about 35 continuing education credits throughout the two days. While the sessions are going on simultaneously so attendees are only able to obtain some credits, this year many of the sessions will be recorded. Participants will have 30 days after the conference to listen to the session they missed and receive those credits as well.
Bressner says that visitors can expect about 90 booths in the trade show and about a total of 900 people in attendance to mingle with. Another opportunity being provided is for college students to be involved in the Agriculture Connections Program.
“This program allows students to talk with member companies about internships, apprenticeships and job opportunities,” says Bressner. “The Classic not only is bringing in those in the industry, but it’s bringing in our future industry to get them excited and get them lined up with companies.”
