Congratulations to Kylie Konyn, the 2022 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Cattle Supreme Exhibitor.
The Supreme Exhibitor award is based on an exhibitor’s overall achievements at the 2022 Fair from points earned participating in the Junior Dairy Show, quiz contest, communication contest and showmanship.
Konyn is a sophomore at UW-Madison and has been an exhibitor at Wisconsin State Fair for one year. She placed first in the speech contest, 10th in the written exam, and had two heifers that placed 2nd and 3rd in their classes. She borrowed the heifers from Ocean-View Genetics, where she had the opportunity to intern this past spring and summer. She was also the 19-year-old showmanship winner and the premier showmanship winner.
“I had so much fun getting to meet youth from all throughout the state and participate in the various competitions that were offered,” Konyn said. “I especially enjoyed sharing a row with Rock County Dairy group which resulted in lots of laughs to keep me going during my nightline. I also extremely enjoyed showmanship and the number of people who participated, making it similar to that of World Dairy Expo.”
Konyn is pursuing a degree in dairy science, ag business management and life sciences communications.
“I hope to pursue graduate school for either dairy cattle genetics or nutrition and then work in some aspect of the industry assisting farmers with the management of their herds,” she says. “It is my hope to stay involved in various junior dairy associations through guidance and mentorship for the next generations and as a way to give back to the industry that has given me so much.”
