The supreme exhibitor award is based on an exhibitor’s overall achievements at the 2022 Fair from points earned participating in the Junior Dairy Goat Show, quiz contest, communication contest and showmanship.
Congratulations to Josh Knapp, the 2022 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Goat Supreme Exhibitor.
“I started showing at Wisconsin State Fair in 6th grade when I helped show my friends goats at the Open Dairy Goat show,” says now 11th-grader Knapp. “Starting in 7th grade, I began showing my own goats at the Junior Dairy Goat show. This year I was also the official milk tester at the 2022 Open Dairy Goat show.”
Knapp is also the Hartford FFA Chapter president.
He says the Wisconsin State Fair has allowed him to meet other youth passionate about agriculture.
“Despite living on the other side of the state, the youth I have met will always be some of my best friends,” he says. “We may only see each other for one week a year but we will always support each other. Playing cards in the barn, walking around the Fair, or staying in the Tommy Thompson Youth Center are some of my favorite memories. I could not imagine a Fair without my friends. It is not the rides, or the concerts or even the cream puffs that make the Wisconsin State Fair great but it is the friends that I have made along the way that make the Wisconsin State Fair the best week of my year.”
When asked about his future plans, Knapp says his goal is to get an undergraduate degree in biology and continue on to veterinary school to specialize in small ruminant genetics and reproduction.
