Periodic rain and snow interrupted harvest some of this week, but corn and soybeans continue to come off the ground.
Corn condition was 78 percent good to excellent statewide, the same as last week. Harvest of corn for grain was 14 percent complete, 12 days behind last year and four days behind the 5-year average. Corn for silage harvest was at 89 percent complete, two weeks behind last year but three days ahead of the average.
The latest crop progress and condition report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service also says 92 percent of corn was mature. Moisture content of corn harvested for grain was 25 percent.
Soybean condition was 75 percent good to excellent, even with last week. Soybean harvest was 56 percent complete, a day behind last year but five days ahead of the average. Soybeans dropping leaves was at 97 percent.
Meanwhile, topsoil moisture is rated 76 percent adequate to surplus. And subsoil moisture is rated 79 percent adequate to surplus.
The potato harvest is nearing the finish line at 92 percent done, a day ahead of last year and four days ahead of the average.
Fall planting and tillage continue. Winter wheat planted was at 83 percent, a day behind last year but eight days ahead of the average. Winter wheat emerged was at 56 percent, three days behind last year but three days ahead of the average. Winter wheat condition was rated 81 percent good to excellent statewide. Fall tillage was 34 percent complete, even with last year, but 10 days ahead of average.
And pasture condition was rated 57 percent good to excellent, down 1 percentage point from last week.
