Wisconsin State FFA Vice Presidents Heidi Strey and Jeremiah Ihm share more about their involvement at World Dairy Expo. We catch up on their ties to the dairy industry, their first 100 days in office, and the leadership trainings and events they hosted at each officer’s home chapter.
Heidi and Jeremiah both are serving this year as Vice Presidents of the Wisconsin State FFA. Jeremiah has a strong dairy background, growing up on his family’s 700 acre organic dairy, where he was the farm’s calf manager. While Heidi did show dairy animals at her county fair, and had judged both dairy cattle and forage at expo in the past, her family’s beef cattle operation is her true passion.
At just over 100 days in office they are getting into the groove and have definitely hit the ground running. They both shared that with their busy schedules they are taking a step back from college to serve in their roles this year.
Recently the FFA Officer team hosted their Fall Leadership Workshops at each officer’s home chapter. The entire officer team visited the area and took in local industry tours during the day and then spent the evening hours working with students from around the area to do more in depth looks at the opportunities FFA can offer for students. Also during World Dairy Expo the state FFA officers hosted a career development workshop. Where students could learn more about dairy industry careers.
