Slinger FFA, in collaboration with the Slinger FFA Alumni Association, will host a Farm to Feast event this Sunday.
This event aims to raise money to support the Slinger FFA students. The event is open to the public and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are limited and can be purchased directly through Eventbrite.com: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/farm-to-feast-tickets-396301397147?aff=erelexpmlt
The Farm to Feast event will take place in the historical 1850s Folk Song barn, which celebrated its rebirth on Nov. 30, 2017, and is located at 4811 Pioneer Road near Richfield, Wis.
“FFA is important in growing America’s leaders, which is why we are so excited to host this event,” says Shelly Mayer, owner of Folk Song Farm.
Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served beginning at noon. Mingle with highly accomplished FFA members, and partake in raffle events including an antique tractor; a team of Percherons will also be available for those who’d like to enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride. There will also be plenty of room to relax and take in the country air. Proceeds from this event will benefit Slinger FFA members in the form of Supervised Agricultural Experience grants, and registration fees to attend numerous local, state, and national conferences from the time members enter the FFA in seventh grade through the age of twenty-one. Additionally, it will allow for an increase in scholarships offered by the Slinger FFA Alumni.
At 2 p.m. guests will be served a buffet-style meal. Prepared by Let’s Get Roasted of West Bend, dinner will include a tossed garden salad, vegetable medley, and a baked potato bar. The main dish will feature beef brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken from the farms of FFA members and alumni. Concluding the meal will be seasonal desserts.
Supporting this event gives students the opportunity to experience leadership and agricultural opportunities outside of Washington County.
