The 36th annual WHA All-Breeds Futurity was held on Saturday, August 13 in West Allis, at the Wisconsin State Fair. Judge Molly Sloan of Marshall, Wis. had the chance to judge five 3-year-olds and eight cows in the inaugural Anniversary Class. The Anniversary Class consisted of cows that had been entered in a previous year’s show.
The winner of this year’s 3-year-old show was Ryan-Vu Cinderdoor Round-Up exhibited by Dylan and Cameron Ryan of Fond du Lac. Round-Up also had the honor of winning the Best Udder award, sponsored by CentralStar Cooperative, and Best Bred & Owned sponsored by Brian Greenman, Rural Mutual Insurance Agent. Dylan and Cameron were also the winning junior entry with awards sponsored by Ma-Brown Holsteins and Jerseys and the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Associations.
Second place was awarded to Milgene Jordy Jazz It Down exhibited by Hildebrandt Family Farms LLC of Hustisford. The Hildebrandts received $750 sponsored by International Protein Sires.
Placing third this year was Milgene Splendid Slam Jam exhibited by Hildebrandt Family Farms LLC. They receive $500 sponsored by Agropur USA. Slam Jam was also the winner of the Top Fat and Protein Production award sponsored by Brian Greenman, Rural Mutual Insurance Agent.
In the Anniversary Class, eight outstanding entries ranging from four to eight years old competed for cash prizes. The winner of this class was Milgene Diamond In The Rough exhibited by Hildebrandt Family Farms LLC. Cash prizes for the Anniversary Class were sponsored by Thorn Creek Insurance and Compeer Financial.
Placing second in the Anniversary Class was Ryan-Vu Armani Design exhibited by Ryan-Vu Holsteins of Fond du Lac. Third place went to Milgene Just A Game-ET exhibited by Ariona, Tianda and Treyton Hildebrandt.
The evening’s program was led by our Mistress of Ceremonies, Jill Makovec. She introduced the dignitaries in attendance, award sponsors, and cows.
Dignitaries at this year’s show included Ron Sersland, representing International Protein Sires, Wisconsin Holstein Association Princess Maddy Hensel, Alice in Dairyland Taylor Schaefer, and Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs Jackie Rosenbush.
