Celebrate the beauty of Wisconsin’s unique landscapes and the work of Wisconsin’s land trusts by attending upcoming outdoor events.
Gathering Waters: Wisconsin’s Alliance for Land Trusts is launching the fifth annual, statewide Wisconsin Land Trust Days event series. Each year, Wisconsin’s land trusts host outdoor activities and family-friendly events across the state that are open to the public. Often, these events take place on protected properties that people can also enjoy year-round.
Running through Oct. 16, this year’s Wisconsin Land Trust Days activities offer something for everyone. People can enjoy hiking or biking tours, help collect prairie seeds, volunteer to build part of the historic Ice Age National Scenic trail, and recharge their bodies and minds with nature-based wellness events.
“Wisconsin Land Trust Days events provide opportunities for Wisconsin residents and visitors to explore local protected areas, enjoy outdoor activities, and learn more about land conservation,” says Executive Director Mike Carlson. “We started Wisconsin Land Trust Days to introduce people to the state’s land trust community and highlight some of the special places they help preserve. Many times, people may not be aware these unique areas exist in their local communities. These events provide a chance for people to learn more about what land trusts have to offer.”
This year, 21 land trusts will host nearly 40 events throughout the state. A full list of Wisconsin Land Trust Days events and other resources are available at havefunoutside.org.
Gathering Waters also invites people to take part in the Wisconsin Land Trust Days Adventure Challenge. The challenge asks people to share details about their experiences as they have fun outside while taking part in events or visiting Wisconsin’s special places.
