One unique feature of this year’s Wisconsin Farm Technology Days show in Clark County are the brand new robotic milkers at Roehl Acres. Visitors to the show had the chance to participate in a farm tour and check out the robots in-person.
Dennis Roehl of Roehl Acres is one of the hosts of this year’s show. He shares more about his transition to robotic milkers and what it means to him to have the opportunity to showcase that new equipment.
Roehl shares that this show has been in the making for 39 years, which is when he attended his first Farm Tech Days and decided that he would want to host the show one day. Now that he is the host, he believes that the one aspect of the show everyone should check out are the robotic milkers he recently had installed.
Roehl goes on, adding that it only took his cows 3 days to adjust to the milkers.
“That’s something that I never thought we could ever have,” says Roehl about the milkers. “I never thought that technology would be there, and I dare say that robot could put it on faster than a person right now.”
Roehl’s biggest piece of advice for farmers considering robotic milkers is finding someone who you know can work with you for installation, maintenance, and service.
