The Roehl family of Loyal, WI will soon welcome thousands of guests to their registered dairy farm and event venue for the 2022 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.
Owned by Dennis and Suzie Roehl family, Roehl acres milks close to 200 cows and farms 800 acres. They recently began using milking robots, which will be showcased during the Farm Technology Days show.
Dennis says they had a five year long conversation before deciding to install the robots, and their cows now have Fitbit like monitors. It tracks their production records, and can be used for health management on the farm.
During the Farm Technology Days show, these robots will be on display during a hands on farm tour. Visitors will have an opportunity to get off the bus, feed calves, and walk through the barn to watch the robots at work.
Dennis says that as each generation is further removed from the farm, it is important that we don’t lose touch with where our food comes from. He says that’s why he decided to take a different approach when it came to the farm tour portion of the event.
Something returning to the show this year was part of Dennis’s first Farm Technology Days – field demonstrations. He says watching the machinery was one of the only memories he has from this first trip, and wants to have that opportunity for others on his farm as well.
Dennis and Suzie say this years show will be a learning experience for everyone, where they can discover where their food comes from.
