Horses are known for their hard-working nature and companionship. However, they can also provide therapeutic benefits.
Lauren Cnare is the Executive Director for Three Gaits Therapeutic Horsemanship Center. Three Gaits works with riders to help them develop goals and overcome challenges through therapeutic horse riding lessons. Cnare shares more about Three Gaits and what it takes to be a therapeutic riding horse.
Cnare explains that the riding lessons are targeted towards the needs of the rider. The riders create a set of goals they’d like to accomplish, and through guided riding lessons, they are able to track their progress.
According to Cnare, the ideal horse for their program is safe, sane, and sound. She says that it has been difficult to find horses after the pandemic, but Three Gaits was recently able to welcome two new horses to their facility.
Three Gaits will be holding a “Walk, Trot, Toast” fundraising event on July 9th to introduce the two new horses. More information about the event can be found at three-gaits.org.
