Join Dr. Nigel Cook of The Dairyland Initiative and Karl Burgi of the Save Cows Network on a tour of two elite Wisconsin dairy herds with a passion for cow comfort and lameness prevention on Aug. 5.
Bomaz Farms in St. Croix County and Fetzer Farms Inc. in Pierce County are hosting. Herd owners will guide you through the decisions made that impact hoof health, resting behavior and productivity. These herds have done it all from retrofitting old facilities and converting from mattress to deep sand stalls, to ventilation improvements and the construction of new facilities with mechanical ventilation to minimize heat stress.
The Dairyland Initiative says you will come away from the tour inspired and empowered to reduce lameness on yours and your clients’ farms.
The tour goes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $115 and includes lunch and transportation. Sign up: https://bit.ly/LIRFarmTour
