It is almost summer, and schools are close to wrapping up their year. However, the summer months can bring about hunger for many students who receive meals from school. There are now many food banks and programs designed to help these families stay nourished throughout the summer.
Stephanie Jung Dorfman, Executive Director of Feeding Wisconsin, shares how Wisconsin’s six Feeding America member food banks prepare for the summer months. Feeding Wisconsin tackled many challenges throughout the COVID pandemic, such as labor shortages and food sourcing, but as Stephanie says, they worked around those obstacles through creativity.
Feeding Wisconsin is ready to help Wisconsin families through this summer and is looking ahead towards the fall months when numerous food assistance programs are set to end. For now, they are focused on collaborating with partner organizations and working through inflation to continue to connect families to food.
