Wisconsin State FFA officers are keeping some long hours these days wrapping up spring award banquets with chapters, and getting ready for the 93rd State FFA Convention! The convention returns to full participation at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, June 13-16.
Ben Styer is the current Wisconsin State FFA President, and he’s just as busy as the rest of his team – but he welcomes it. Talking with Pam Jahnke, Styer says he can tell through chapter visits and recent competitive events, that students are VERY excited to get back together.
Styer says it’s been interesting engaging with chapters, especially for their spring awards banquet. He says for some chapter members, that banquet may be the first physical contact they’ve had with the rest of the chapter. Participation today has been great!
Styer says the officer team will be spending a solid week preparing the final details for the 93rd Wisconsin State FFA Convention during a special work event in Marshfield. While most of the components of the convention will be back “as usual” – the students interaction with the Madison community through their day of service, will be limited. Styer tells the Midwest Farm Report that instead of taking groups of students into the community, they’ll try to do all their service projects at the Alliant Energy Center. That may include collecting personal care items for donation back to the community. That’s one of the finer points the team will be working on before the end of May.
