As the heat of summer and the best days of the year approach us, the usual preparations for the Jefferson County Fair look different this year. In the meantime, the Fair Park staff has taken a new approach to bringing the fair to you this July!
“From virtual exhibitor shows to businesses and restaurants taking part in the “Jefferson County Fair On Tour” campaign, hosting an online talent competition, we’re working hard to keep the residents of Jefferson County and beyond engaged and excited about the Jefferson County Fair.” says Micheala Slind, Marketing Specialist for the Jefferson County Fair Park. “We know this year has been anything but typical for our fair families and fair goers, but we know people love the fair and we know that people are looking for some fun this summer as well. That’s the goal of hosting the virtual fair online through the Fair Park’s social media pages, Facebook and Instagram and our website: www.jcfairpark.com.”
Exhibiting at the Virtual Fair
Anyone can register to exhibit in the virtual fair that will be held during the week that the 2020 fair was to be held: July 8-12. There is a junior, senior and open class division just like when the fair is held in person. Exhibitors can enter as many exhibits as they would like – so try something new this year summer! Learn to decorate a cake, or finish that DIY Pinterest project you’ve had pinned for 4 years. “We want to encourage people to have fun with their projects and use their imagination during this “extra” time they may have” says Slind. The entry form for virtual judging can be found on our website: www.jcfairpark.com under the “Competitive Exhibits” tab. Entries for exhibitors is June 30 at midnight.
Junior Talent Competition
Do you have a hidden talent that you’ve wanted to share with the world? Enter in the fair’s virtual talent competition who will be produced and promoted by the fair and Knapton Musik Notes of Janesville. Each entry will require a 2-5 minute video and entries are due on July 6.
There are two age divisions: 2-12 years old and 13-18 years old. Prize money will be awarded to the top 3 performances in each age division. Find the entry information on our website.
Jefferson County Fair on Tour – Fair Food Feature
If you’re a restaurant owner that wants to feature fair food on your menu the week of July 6-12, the Fair Park wants to hear from you! Submit your “Fair Food Feature” information on the website or by calling the Fair Park. The Fair Park will feature your restaurant on their social media pages and encourages residents of Jefferson County to get out and support the local restaurants. How it works – sign up on the fair website, take a picture and send it in and we will promote your food and business on our website and social media pages during the week of fair. Restaurant goers will play “Fair Food Bingo” and if someone gets “Bingo” by visiting 5 different restaurants during fair week, they’ll be entered in a drawing to win a prize!
More information and “virtual” fun can be found on the Fair Park website: www.jcfairpark.com or by following their social media pages.
