Wisconsin farmers were busy on their computers Monday, with nearly 4,000 farmers applying for coronovirus pandemic relief money.
State Department of Revenue officials said 3,673 farmers enrolled for some of the $50 million in cash assistance provided by the Evers Administration. Monday was the first day of the enrollment period, which runs through June 29.
Farmers with gross incomes between $35,000 and $5 million can apply for the payments, which will range from $1,000 to $3,500.
Online enrollment is encouraged, through the state DOR, at www.revenue.wi.gov. Farmers without computer access may call the department at 608-266-2772.
Under the federal CARES program, the governor has also designated $15 million to support food banks, food pantries and other groups helping feed those most in need during the pandemic.
