Wisconsin dairy farmers who dump milk because of the coronavirus pandemic won’t be charged milk-promotion assessments on future milk that might be dumped.
A news released issued by the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said the agency is working with the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin – the agency charged with collecting and using dairy check-off funds for dairy promotion, education and research – have agreed that farmers won’t be charged the 10-cent-per-hundredweight assessment. However, the measure doesn’t cover milk dumped
before Friday.
It will continue until the coronavirus national emergency that
President Trump ordered earlier this year.
