The Green Lake County Agriculture, UW Extension, Education and Fair Committee along with other County Officials met on May 12, 2020 to discuss the upcoming Green Lake County Jr. Free Fair and the COVID19 Global Pandemic. After long deliberation, much consideration, and guidance from the Green Lake County Health Department it is with great sadness that the decision has been made to cancel the Green Lake County Fair scheduled for August 6 – 9, 2020.
We are sensitive to the fact that Coronavirus has negatively impacted big moments, milestones, and experiences for those across our country and we understand the cancellation of our Fair comes with great disappointment for those who plan, attend, exhibit, participate, and support it. However, the safety of all those involved in our Fair is our greatest priority and with the future of social gatherings unknown we, as a united front, decided we must take action to ensure our fairgoers and our fair family stay healthy during a time of such uncertainty.
The mission of the Green Lake County Fair is to provide positive youth development and leadership skills, along with promoting family and community involvement through education and tradition. Now, more than ever, we take our mission and commitment to our community seriously and we look forward to celebrating past traditions and making new memories at the 2021 “best little fair around” scheduled for August 5 – 8, 2021.
The Green Lake County Agriculture, UW Extension, Education and Fair Committee is grateful and appreciative of all the efforts that were already put forward by those involved in the planning of the 2020 Fair and, from all of us at Green Lake County, we wish you and your family good health. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your love and support during such a difficult time. Stay well!
