Since 1998, Bill Halfman, UW-Extension Educator in Monroe County, has been dedicated to the cattle industry. On Friday evening he was named the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s “Friend” award winner.
In the presentation, cattle producers like Adam Hady pointed out all the hats that Halfman wears through extension. He’s be a leader in forming the Extension Beef Team as well as developing the annual “Cattle Feeders” meetings each winter.
In his year’s of service, Bill has been instrumental in developing decision-based spreadsheets for beef producers; conducting field research in areas like yardage of WI Feedlot and currently focused on beef on dairy crosses. Halfman also maintains the Wisconsin Beef Information Center website as a resource for all beef producers.
Halfman also helps support his fellow extension staff members through the Beef Quality Assurance program, and beef programming that connects those extension personnel to resources they might otherwise miss.
Halfman, a Bloomer native, actually holds degrees including a master’s in Agronomy.
