American Royal 4-H Meats Judging Contest: October 15, 2019
Wisconsin 4-H Team attending: Grant County 4-H
(Manhattan, KS) Grant County 4-H represented Wisconsin at the 2019 American Royal Meats Contest held at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. There were 44 youth that participated from 12 states that took part in this year’s event. Team members were Blake Wegmuller, Kendra Jentz, Cora Kleist and Abby Meier. The team was coached by Dennis Patterson.
Blake Wegmueller place 10th overall and the Grant County team placed 5th out of 12 teams!
Grant County earned the right to compete at the National contest by winning the senior division at the 2019 state 4-H meats judging contest. Make plans to participate in the 2020 State Contest which will be held on Saturday, April 25, at UW-Madison. National Quiz Bowl contest: November 19, 2019
Wisconsin 4-H Team attending: Trempealeau County 4-H
(Louisville, KY) The 2019 National 4-H Quiz Bowl competition took place on Tuesday, November 19th for the first time at the North American Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY. Trempealeau County 4-H represented Wisconsin at this year’s event and earned the right to compete by winning the Wisconsin competition back in March. The Wisconsin team competed in three rounds before being eliminated from competition and finished 4th out of 11 Teams.
Wisconsin Team members included: Blake Johnson, Mara Quarne, Tyler Johnson and Joanna Haines. They were coached by Dwight Quarne, Jill Johnson and Jessie Oberlin.
Trempealeau County earned the right to compete at the National contest by winning the senior division at the 2019 WI 4-H Livestock Quiz bowl and Skill event. Make plans to participate in the 2020 State Contest which will be held on Saturday, March 7, at UW-Madison. North American International Livestock Skillathon Contest: November 18, 2019
Wisconsin 4-H Team attending: Trempealeau County 4-H
(Louisville, KY): Wisconsin 4-H was represented well at the 2019 North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY at the Livestock Skillathon Contest. A team from Trempealeau County participated on behalf of Wisconsin. Team members included: Blake Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Mara Quarne. The team was coached by Dwight Quarne, Jill Johnson and Jessie Oberlin.

Western National Round-Up Meats Judging Contest: January 11, 2020
Wisconsin 4-H Team attending: Columbia County 4-H
(Denver, CO) Columbia County 4-H represented Wisconsin at the 2020 National Western Round-Up Meats Contest held in Denver Colorado on Saturday, January 11th, 2020. There were 30 youth that participated from 8 states that took part in this year’s event. Team members were Justin Taylor, Zach Mickelson, Hayden Taylor and Sami Rake. The team was coached by Todd Taylor.
Columbia County earned the right to compete at the National contest by earning 2nd place in the senior division at the 2019 state 4-H meats judging contest.
Justin Taylor won placings. The team placed 3rd in placings, 5th in reasons and 7th overall.

Western National Roundup – 4-H Livestock Judging Contest: January 10, 2020
Wisconsin 4-H Team attending: Iowa County 4-H
(Denver, Co:) Iowa County 4-H represented Wisconsin at the 2020 4-H Judging Contest held in Denver, Co at the Western National Roundup.
Team members include: Blaine Springer, Kyle Vondra, Skylar Garthwaite and Emma Steffes. They were coached by Lora Springer and Aaron Garthwaite.
