Equity Cooperative Livestock’s operations and financial status was shared and reviewed at 10 annual district meetings held in March. Regional board of director elections also took place at three of those meetings.
Steve Schleis, Kewaunee, Wisconsin (District III); Les Danielson, Cadott, Wisconsin (District VI); and Brad Solchenberger, Cazenovia, Wisconsin (District IX); were elected to represent these districts for the cooperative. In an April reorganizational board meeting, the following individuals were elected to serve the board; Les Danielson, chairman of the board; David Wilke, vice chairman of the board; Steve Schleis, secretary/treasurer; and Karl Merow, assistant secretary/treasurer.
Former chairman, Norm Fruit stepped down after 20 years of service to the board. Brad Solchenberger, 29 years old, is his replacement on the board and brings more than 12 years of farming experience with him. He also serves on the local association board, Equity Rich Land Livestock Marketing Cooperative. He raises 175 dairy animals and finishes 100 Holstein steers a year. He and his wife, Sarah, live in Cazenovia with their three children; Baylee, Bristol and Finnley.
Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association is a federated cooperative headquartered in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Equity operates 14 auction markets, and services producers in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Equity assists producers with the marketing, managing and financing of their agricultural businesses.
