Developing new apples and other fruits can be a process that takes many years, according to a University of Minnesota horticulture expert.
David Bedford, a senior research fellow in fruit breeding at the university’s Horticulture Research Center, said the process of developing new varieties is an ongoing process that has resulted in some of the nation’s leading apples.
Bedford recently spoke with Scott Schultz about the program’s history and what new varieties might be coming (listen to the interview below).
