President Donald Trump received a warm reception Monday from American Farm Bureau Federation members as he spoke to the group at their 100th anniversary convention in New Orleans.
The president used the first half of his speech to promote his proposed wall along the country’s southern border and blamed the Democrats for not giving him the money to build it and the reason the government is still shutdown. He also outlined his economic agenda, as he continually told the farmers how important they are to his agenda and to our country.
He also took on China and the European Union for their trade practices and assured the farmers when all his new trade deals were done, they would be very happy.
The president also ticked off all the things his administration has done to help farmers, including getting rid of unnecessary regulations, redoing the Waters of the USA rules, and fixing the estate taxes so young people could take over their family farms. Plans also would make it easier for farmers to get migrant workers for their farms, he said, and he will continue to support the use of ethanol — citing the recent approval of E-15 for year ‘round use across the country.
The president called farmers “loyal Americans” and said the farmers now have a government that is loyal to them.
