Farmers have until Jan. 15 to sign up for payments the federal government is making to help farmers make up for money lost because of international trade issues.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced that a second round of trade-mitigation payments is being made to farmers, despite announcements that China has again agreed to make some purchases of U.S. soybeans.
Stephanie McCarthy-Wondercheck, FSA director in Buffalo and Pepin counties, said during the weekly WAXX Ag and Conservation program that the new year is the time to visit local FSA offices to sign up for the trade-mitigation programs and other federal programs.
