A second round of trade mitigation payments is being made to farmers affected by trade issues between China and the United States despite announcements that China has re-started some American soybean purchases.
U.S. Department of Agriculture officials announced the payments on Monday, with agriculture secretary Sonny Perdue saying it will be the final round of the Market Facilitation Program payments. Perdue said there’s been positive movement in agricultural trade, but that American farmers are continuing to suffer losses because of the trade battles.
