The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board will be once again be holding its Annual Soybean Yield contest and the details and rules have just been announced. This contest is conducted with the goal in mind of advancing the development of new and innovative management practices and to show ever growing importance of using sound cultural practices in Wisconsin soybean production.
All producers are invited to enter the contest, and do sign up just complete the contest entry form by October 15th and then follow up at harvest time with Harvest Report Forms in late November. The Soybean marketing board will be awarding two winners from each of the Wisconsin’s four geographical divisions. Contest winners will receive $1,000 each as a cash prize with second place receiving $500. The contest is won by having the largest yield when factoring in a thirteen percent moisture level.
The winners will be awarded there prizes at next year’s Corn-Soy Expo. New this year the Soybean Board has decided to award the first producer to achieve 100 bu/acre or more will be receiving a check for $2500.
“The State Soybean Yield Contest is the perfect opportunity for Wisconsin farmers to test their new, innovative management practices to increase yields,” says Dr. Shawn Conley, University of Wisconsin Extension Soybean Specialist. “Wisconsin farmers continue to produce more soybeans for the ever increasing need for food and feed around the world.”
