The Honored Guest is recognized by the student chapter for the significant time and resources donated to AWA. Robby Weyker was named the 2016 Honored Guest. The AWA membership would like to honor Robby for his continued support, involvement and encouragement of our biggest event of the year, Breakfast on the Farm. Robby has played an integral role over the years providing prep space, storage and the meat for our breakfast. Without his support and generous attitude for our organization, breakfast on the farm would not be possible.
Jessica Held received the 2016 Friend of AWA Award. The Friend of AWA is awarded to a person who has contributed significant time and resources to the AWA active chapter during the past year. Jessica excelled in her duties along with assisting the student organization. Not only does she send helpful reminders, she is eager to answer questions and prompt in her email responses, willing to teach students new software, is incredibly patient, and always provides feedback and praises for a job well done. As an alumnus, she always serves as an outstanding role model for the entire student chapter.
Kristen Olson was the recipient of the 2016 AWA Outstanding Alumni Award. The Outstanding Alumni award is presented by the student chapter to an AWA alumnus, who is excelling in her career in agriculture. Graduating only six years ago, this alumnus has excelled in her career path serving as the Dairy Advertising and Product Advertising Coordinator for Accelerated Genetics. Additionally, this alumnus served as the official agricultural ambassador of Wisconsin as the 66th Alice in Dairyland. Currently, she is working as the Media Relations Manager for World Dairy Expo, and is the Business Owner and Graphic Designer for KnockOut Design. Beyond excelling in her career, she is very active in the student chapter to help pass on her knowledge and experience to members through events such as AWA’s Dress for Success and AWA’s LSC Workshop.
Kylene Anderson was the recipient of the 2016 Founder’s Award. This award is presented to an individual in recognition for excellence in and contributions of any sort to the Association of Women in Agriculture. There is no doubt that Kylene has demonstrated exceptional creativity, leadership, service and communication to the
organization and its members. She has put countless hours into furthering AWA and is well deserving of this award.Laura Daniels was the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Woman in Agriculture. Laura’s passion, promotion and dedication to uplifting agriculture and the women active in this industry is one of the many reasons she was selected as this year’s Outstanding Woman in Agriculture. Her significant positive influence on the agricultural industry does not go unnoticed.
Emily Selner, Denmark, Wis., was named the 2016 Outstanding Senior. Selner, majoring in Agricultural and Applied Economics and Life Sciences Communication, serves as the President of the Organization. She excels at thinking “big picture”, while designing specific plans and executing them successfully. Her commitment to AWA, her sisters, and to growing AWA’s presence and influence on the University of Wisconsin-‐Madison campus are just a few reasons she is the definition of the AWA Outstanding Senior.
