This week the Mid-West Farm Report is bringing you exclusive content in what would have been World Dairy Expo week. Just because Expo isn't physically happening doesn't mean we can't still celebrate our robust, global dairy industry. With the amazing help of World Dairy Expo and Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, we'll be showcasing some of the rock-stars in our dairy industry while highlighting a legendary event that has called Wisconsin home for over 50 years.
Day One of WDE Review: Scott Bentley is the General Manager of World Dairy Expo, and one of the key people that had to make the difficult decision earlier this year to cancel the "Grand Daddy of the Dairy Shows". Listen to the interview below as he updates us on how the organization's doing both financially and physically - as well as what's already in the works for the return of the 2021 show.
Day Two of WDE Review: For anybody that's left World Dairy Expo with an official cap, jacket, t-shirt or souvenir, chances are she's met you! For over 25 years, Annette Ziegler has been one of the driving forces behind the familiar merchandise area just inside the Alliant Energy Center during the show.
Day Three of WDE Review: Kimberly Evert, Director of Business Development for Save Cows Network in Baraboo is just one of the long-time exhibitors at World Dairy Expo that will miss the show. She'll miss it for obvious reasons like the business, but she'll also miss seeing other exhibitors they've been next to for years. She'll miss seeing customers and listening as they share their stories.
Save Cows Network is also focused on keeping their staff safe during this pandemic with a unique approach of getting work done, while kids get educated.
Day Four of WDE Review: The Grilled Cheese Stand is one of the most delicious staples of World Dairy Expo and will likely have a long line out front of it regardless of time of day. The stand is operated as a partnership between Badger Dairy Club and Collegiate Farm Bureau at UW-Madison and serves as their main fundraiser. Emma Gwidt of Badger Dairy Club joins Pam Jahnke in Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin's kitchen to cook up the delicious sandwiches we have all come to know and love.
Day Four of WDE Review: The Wendorf Family from Ixonia have been exhibiting at World Dairy Expo for generations - and it doesn't end there. Because of their proximity to Madison, they also host throngs of young people involved in competitive judging, as well as international guests interested in top line genetics. Well, they usually do. Sarah Wendorf talks about how 2020 is different in so many ways.
