Bacon Wrapped Loin A Hit With State Fair Crowd

The Wisconsin State Fair welcomed more than a million visitors this year – and it looks like plenty of them enjoyed “The Other White Meat” courtesy of the Wisconsin Pork Association(WPA).

According to the WPA, this year the Pork Schoppe served over 16,000 butterfly pork chop sandwiches, over 5,100 pork chops on a stick, 3,845 pork burgers, and nearly 5000 pieces of our new menu item, bacon wrapped pork on a stick. Funds raised through the Pork Schoppe are used for WPA’s public policy and advocacy programs.

What’s next?  Well the WPA is heading north to give attendees at the Packers/Bears game – the first regular season match up –  a chance to sample!  But it’s going to take some volunteers to handle that crowd!  WPA will be providing grilled pork loin samples prior to the Green Bay Packers game that afternoon. Volunteers are needed from approximately  3 to 7 p.m. on September 9th to hand out the pork samples and visit with fans prior to the start of the Packers vs. Bears game. If you are available to help, please contact Mandy Masters at 608-723-7551 or email [email protected].

About Pam Jahnke

Getting up at 2 in the morning might shock some of her listeners, but for Pam Jahnke, it’s part of the business. Born in Northeastern Wisconsin, Pam Jahnke grew up in agriculture. Raised on her family’s 200-acre dairy farm, she learned the “farm work ethic” first hand.
